Between 2004 and 2010, Dr. Siegfried Hecker, then Director Emeritus of the Los Alamos National Laboratory and Professor at Stanford University, made seven trips to North Korea to explore ways to reduce the danger posed by Pyongyang’s advancing nuclear weapons program.
To complement the story narrated in Hinge Points: An Inside Look at North Korea’s Nuclear Program (Stanford University Press, 2023), this website draws on Dr. Hecker’s personal archive of trip materials as well as on his indefatigable outreach over the years to inform policy-makers and educate the public on the facts and choices related to North Korea’s nuclear weapons program.
