The James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies welcomed five new visiting fellows to Monterey this semester. The group includes government officials, practitioners, and researchers from East Asia, South Asia, and Africa, specifically, China, India, Morocco, and Nigeria.
The visiting fellows will reside at CNS, at the Middlebury Institute for International Studies at Monterey, until early December.
During the course of the program, fellows undergo a rigorous training in WMD nonproliferation on a range of issues including legal, political, and technical aspects of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons nonproliferation, nuclear security, regional challenges, exports controls, and disarmament policies. Each fellow works on an independent research project, drawing from the program’s advanced lecture series as well as a multitude of other resources offered by CNS and MIIS, before presenting his/her findings at the conclusion of the program. They will have an opportunity to meet and network with MIIS faculty as well as CNS experts in Monterey, Washington, and Vienna.
