China Doubles Down on Nuclear Energy, at Home and Abroad
An analysis of China’s nuclear energy program and export potential is written by CNS experts, Stephanie Lieggi and Miles Pomper.
China recently announced the approval of two new nuclear reactors, underscoring its intention to move forward with an ambitious nuclear construction program. Beijing is counting on its large internal market to gain the expertise necessary for becoming a competitor to existing nuclear exporters. Questions remain however about the reliability of China’s indigenous technology and its ability to compete with other foreign suppliers.
