On January 23, 2025, CNS partnered with the Rohatyn Center for Global Affairs to hold a public event at Middlebury College. The event expanded on CNS Professor of the Practice Stephen Herzog’s J-Term course at the college titled “Russia-Ukraine War & Nuclear Order.” At the event, Dr. Mariana Budjeryn of Harvard University’s Project on Managing the Atom presented on her book Inheriting the Bomb: The Collapse of the USSR and the Nuclear Disarmament of Ukraine (Johns Hopkins University Press). Budjeryn and Herzog discussed the ongoing nuclear dynamics of the war and held a wide-ranging question and answer session with students, staff, and faculty from the college. Also present from CNS to interact with students interested in nonproliferation issues were Professor Jeffrey Lewis and Dr. Allison Berke.
