As Program Coordinator and Research Fellow, Sophia’s work focuses on issues of gender and nonproliferation and disarmament, nonproliferation-related sanctions, proliferation finance, and disruptive and emerging technologies. She co-leads the Young Women in Nonproliferation Initiative at CNS and is a Gender Champions in Nuclear Policy focal point. Sophia is a member of the inaugural cohort of the Nuclear Futures Fellowship with Ploughshares and Horizon 2045 and is a member of the 2024 cohort of Nuclear Scholars with the Project on Nuclear Issues at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. She is passionate about working to foster a more diverse, inclusive, and transformative arms control and nonproliferation field, and is an advisory board member for the Emerging Voices Network at BASIC (the British American Security Information Council). Previously, Sophia has worked with the Small Arms Survey and the Nuclear Sites Project at the Global Decolonization Initiative.

- CNS Washington, DC Residential Program on North Korea SanctionsCNS reengaged eight countries on implementation of sanctions, particularly due to the changes in North Korean sanctions evasion during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- New CNS DC website focused on trade compliance and guidance for emerging technology sectorsThis website will serve as a central hub for information on CNS’s research on trade controls and emerging technology proliferation.
- Workshop Held in DC on the Constitutional History of the NPTThe scholars are currently working on a Carnegie-funded book project on the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
