Background

Sam Lair is a Research Associate at the James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) where he studies North Korean defense industrial capabilities using open source methods as part of the New Tools Team. He also studies and writes about U.S. Cold War anti-ballistic missile systems. Prior to joining CNS full-time, he worked as a Graduate Research Assistant there.

Education

Sam holds a Bachelors of Arts in History and Political Science from Trinity University, earned in 2022. He graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies with a Masters in Nonproliferation and Terrorism Studies in 2024.
