Background

Paulina Izewicz is a Project Director for Maritime and Sanctions Compliance. She leads several projects related to sanctions compliance, focusing on maritime sanctions in particular. Since 2018, she has developed and delivered training on this topic to flag registries, maritime enforcement agencies, financial institutions, shipowners, and other maritime stakeholders across Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Pacific Islands. Apart from her role at CNS, Paulina is also an Associate Fellow at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) in London, United Kingdom. Prior to joining CNS, she was a Research Associate at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London, where she also managed programmatic work on sanctions. In that role, she was involved in the delivery of training in support of the UN Panel of Experts on Iran and the United Nations Secretariat. She also worked at the Institute for Science and International Security in Washington, DC. She holds an MA in Law from the University of Wroclaw (Poland) and an MA in International Relations from Syracuse University, with a Certificate of Advanced Study in Security Studies.
