Natasha E. Bajema is an expert on nuclear and biological weapons, nuclear and biological risk reduction, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and other converging threats to national security. Before coming to CNS, she served as the Director of the Converging Risks Lab at the Council on Strategic Risks in Washington, D.C. where she led projects on various complex intersections including emerging technologies and nuclear decision-making, nuclear energy, security, and climate change, and the long-term effects of nuclear weapons use.
Dr. Bajema has spent more than a decade of experience working on nuclear policy and emerging technology issues within the U.S. government. She previously served as a Senior Research Fellow at National Defense University, a Special Advisor at the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, and a Special Advisor in the Pentagon focused on nuclear, chemical, and biological defense programs.
She is also the CEO and Founder of Nuclear Spin Cycle, LLC and produces creative content to educate the public on nuclear risks, such as the travelogue show Radioactive Road Trippin’ (R&R). Dr. Bajema authored the technothriller Rescind Order about future AI risks for nuclear war and wrote the pilot screenplay for limited series on climate effects of nuclear war.
Dr. Bajema holds a Ph.D. in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. She is a published author on topics related to weapons of mass destruction, artificial intelligence, international governance, and defense strategy.
