About GRA Positions
James Martin Center for Nonproliferation Studies (CNS) in Monterey, CA
Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs) are work-study positions reserved ONLY for MIIS students currently enrolled in classes. GRAs are paid on an hourly basis and typically work 10-15 hours a week. Starting wage is negotiated based on the student’s experience. The position is renewable contingent upon satisfactory academic progress and job performance.
GRAs have opportunities to work on critical issues involving the proliferation of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and ballistic missiles and strategies for their control. They can acquire on-the-job training with CNS experts and other leading scholars on nonproliferation issues by contributing to databases, website publications, fact sheets, and analytical issue briefs. CNS research interests also cover WMD terrorism and space security.
Many GRAs have used their experience at CNS as a springboard for full-time positions at the following locations.
